More News On The Divorce: What happened?

According, to Us Weeky:
Friends close to Britney Spears and Kevin Federline weren’t surprised that Spears filed a petition for divorce on Tuesday in L.A. County Court citing "irreconcilable differences."

The couple had a final blowout last week that pushed their marriage to the breaking point. At a bash for Federline's album release at club Xenii in L.A. on October 31, the couple, say sources, had an explosive argument. While Federline worked the crowd (onstage earlier in the night he yelled, "Ladies, I love you!"), Spears was hidden away in an upstairs dressing room.

Before Halloween night was officially over, the pop star, dressed in a black minidress and barefoot, made a dramatic exit. "She ran down the stairs crying and stormed out," a witness says. "Her eyes were swollen and her eyeliner was smudged. She looked like a complete mess." Federline didn't run after his wife.

Matters remained unresolved by the time the couple headed east (Spears even postponed her NYC arrival by one day), and the pop star was spotted welling up in public again on November 2 while having dinner with a male friend at Library, her hotel's restaurant. "She cried on and off the whole meal," an onlooker tells Us.

According to In Touch Weekly this is what sparked her sudden annoucement:

Britney Spears’ shock decision to file for divorce today came after a weekend of heartache sparked when she was left to eat alone at a New York restaurant. The pop princess was left in tears at her table as she waited for husband Kevin Federline at The Library restaurant inside New York’s Regency Hotel on November 2.
The following night she paid him back when she was a no-show at his tour launch at Stereo nightclub, where she was due to introduce him. He was left scanning the room and checking his Sidekick. When asked how his wife was, Kevin, 28, admitted: “I don’t know.” Later when the DJ played her song “Slave 4 U,” Kevin made a slashing motion across his throat, telling him to cut it off.

Britney, 24, instructed top divorce lawyer Laura Wasser to file papers this morning in LA County Superior Court to end the marriage. She was in such a hurry to file, she had to fax her signature to Wasser to affix to the document.
