Charlize Theron Is Being Sued

Swiss watchmaker Raymond Weil has filed a breach of contract lawsuit against Charlize Theron. In court papers filed late Monday in state Supreme Court, Weil said Theron signed an endorsement deal saying that from October 2005 through December 2006 she would only wear Weil's high-end watches. That deal allowed Weil to use Theron's photographs in its advertisements in exchange for "substantial funds," court papers said.

Meanwhile, Theron had an endorsement deal to promote a Dior perfume, Weil's lawsuit said. The 31-year-old actress "was actually photographed wearing a watch from the Christian Dior line" at a March 14, 2006, news conference at a film festival in Austin, Texas, court papers said. A photo of her wearing the watch is included as an exhibit.

"Although the agreement clearly prohibits (Theron) from appearing in any advertisement for any jewelry, even for charity, she appeared wearing a necklace in an advertisement benefiting an AIDS charity, violating the agreement, from February 2006 to December 2006," the court papers said.

"Plaintiffs were led to believe and had a right to believe by their written agreement that (Theron) would not promote jewelry or watches."

A spokeswoman for Theron didn't immediately return a call Tuesday from The Associated Press.

The lawsuit doesn't say how much Weil is seeking in damages, but the watchmaker's lawyer, David Jaroslawicz, said his client had spent more than $20 million on the Theron advertising campaign.

Keira Knightley Sues Over Anorexia Accusations

Pirates of the Carribean star Keira Knightley is heading for a High Court showdown with the Daily Mail over a piece which she suggested she had tried to mislead the public about whether she suffered from an eating disorder. The moves follow publication on 11 January of a photograph of Keira - which was taken without her consent - of her on a beach wearing a bikini while she was on holiday.

Simon Smith of media law firm Schillings, who represents the 21-year-old star, said today that Knightley considered the story suggested that she had "dishonestly sought to mislead the public" about whether she had an eating disorder. Smith said: "The article made reference to what it perceived to be Ms Knightley's

"The article then reported the recent, tragic death of a teenage girl who suffered from anorexia and contained an interview with the girl's mother. We wish to make clear that Ms Knightley has the deepest sympathy for the girl's family."

He continued: "Ms Knightley has publicly denied suggestions that she might be anorexic or have a similar eating disorder, including in a prominent way at a well-publicised press conference to mark the European premiere of Pirates Of The Caribbean 2, in London last summer."

"Accordingly, in the proceedings, Ms Knightley will argue that the Mail's article suggests that she has dishonestly sought to mislead the public about whether she has anorexia or a similar eating disorder and will show that she does not have anorexia; and further will challenge the suggestion that she is responsible and to blame for the tragic death of the teenage girl by setting a bad example."

If the case does not settle, it is expected to reach court later this year this year or early next.SOURCE

Michael Jackson Suing

Michael Jackson is suing his former accountants, accusing them of making unauthorized business deals and charging him millions of dollars.

Jackson and his production company filed the lawsuit against Bernstein, Fox, Whitman, Goldman and Sloan yesterday at Los Angeles Superior Court. They claim the firm didn't keep Jackson informed of his financial affairs and committed negligence and breach of fiduciary duty. They are calling for unspecified damages and a thorough audit of money paid to the company for services provided.


Earlier in 2006, Jackson's spokeswoman Raymone Bain revealed she suspected Jackson was being defrauded by business associates and advisers. She said in August, "Mr Jackson is neither shocked nor surprised by these revelations. He has long been suspicious that some of those whom he entrusted to act on his behalf, and to advise him with respect to his personal and business affairs, may not have always acted in his best interest."
